The Lava Flow is a Piña Colada and a frozen strawberry purée, blended separately and then poured together so the red streaks up the sides of the glass like its namesake. It is equal parts cocktail and spectacle.
Half a drink, half a magic trick.
A Resort Drink, Proudly
The Lava Flow is a fixture of beach resorts across Hawaii and the Caribbean, and it has never pretended to be anything else. It is built to look spectacular on a tray beside a pool — and, made with real fruit, it tastes as good as it looks.
How the Swirl Works
The effect relies on density and order. Spoon a blended strawberry purée into the bottom of the glass, then pour the blended colada slowly down the centre; the lighter colada displaces the purée up the sides, and the lava flows.
Two Blends, One Glass
The Lava Flow takes a little more effort than its siblings: one blend for the strawberry purée, one for the colada. Done in the wrong order — or poured too fast — the layers simply muddle into pink. Patience makes the picture.
